Public Participation Plan

Federal regulations require each MPO to adopt a Public Participation Plan (PPP) that establishes
formal policies and strategies for ensuring the public is provided with, and properly notified of,
opportunities to participate in the development of its plans, programs, and other activities.
In the development of its PPP, SEMPO strives to involve stakeholders having an important role
in the transportation planning process, including:

  • Aviation groups
  • Bicycling groups
  • Disabled groups
  • Environmental agencies
  • Freight providers
  • Hiking/pedestrian groups
  • Human Services agencies
  • Limited English Proficiency (LEP) persons
  • Local and state government officials
  • Minority groups
  • Motorcycling groups
  • Neighborhood organizations
  • Public and private transit providers
  • School districts
  • Senior centers
  • Senior housing providers
